Physics for JEE Advanced
Hi, in this post, I will describe how I prepared Physics for JEE Advanced.
My relation with Physics was rather peculiar. I liked the subject but got relatively low scores in it(compared to Mathematics). So I felt rather irritated with the subject at times.
I solved the following material for Physics:
1. Coaching material: Includes modules, workbooks and FIITJEE GMP(partially).
2. DC Pandey Mechanics I and II
3. Cengage Electrostatics and Current Electricity
4. Cengage Optics and Modern Physics
5. Cengage Magnetism and Electromagnetic Induction
6. Physics Galaxy Advanced Illustrations
7. Archive- JEE Advanced last 41 years questions
I did not solve all the problems in all the books- if you feel a particular question is too simple, like it can be solved just by substitution of values or it is based on some simple concept then you may skip it.
Do make sure you spend at least 80% of your time solving "tough" problems- problems of at least JEE Advanced level. If you can solve them, then that is great, it means you are on the right track. If you cannot, study the solution properly. Ask yourself why you could not do the question. Was it because of conceptual flaws? Was it a calculation error? Take measures to correct whatever error you had made.
Another pro tip- Mark questions with a number when you solve them. My code was the following:
Code 1: Easy, no need to revise
Code 2: Easy but fundamental
Code 3: Moderate(maybe because the calculation was tough or it was a multi-concept problem)
Code 4: Difficult(maybe really ugly calculation or tough to think concept or some other complex manipulation)
During revision, code 4 is a must to revisit. You can revisit some problems from codes 2 and 3 if you feel the need.
If you are preparing for 2024 or 2025, I recommend you to check out Physics Galaxy set of books. I have not used them personally, but you should check out the books as I found the videos on the Physics Galaxy YouTube Channel to be very helpful.
NOTE- If you are preparing for 2023, focus on revision packages as your exam is barely 3 months away.
For revision, solve all the questions you had found difficult or if they had taught you a new concept.
Solve new, multi-concept, lengthy problems and give plenty of mock tests. Do revise theory sometimes- some minute points can often save your time during the exam.
